The Ministry of Health and Department of Ayurveda, collaborated with Fadna and Lever
Ayush, successfully organized the “වෙදැදුරු අභිමන් Presidential Award Ceremony” on 20th
June 2023 at the prestigious Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH)
in Colombo. This distinguished event aimed to promote and empower indigenous medicine by
recognizing the exemplary contributions and achievements of registered Ayurveda
practitioners across the island.
The primary objective of the ceremony was to ensure that our local practitioners
receive national recognition for their dedication and expertise in the field of Ayurveda,
thus elevating the status of traditional medicine in our country. The event witnessed
the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka,
Dinesh Gunawardhna, the Honorable Speaker, Mahinda Yapa, Sisira Jayakodi, the
Minister of State for Indigenous Medicine of Sri Lanka, Health Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella, and Nimal Siripala, the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation of Sri
Lanka. In addition, policy makers, researchers, academics, industry professionals, and
Ayurveda practitioners from various parts of the country actively participated in the
event.
